A few observations. First of all there are different styles of music and concepts of a saxophone sound. The "best" embouchure for a jazz or rock musician may not be the same as the "best" embouchure for a musician who plays classical saxophone. The "bottom lip rolled out" expression is used a lot in discussions about saxophone embouchures.The Performance (alto and tenor) has a more traditional post-to-rib-to-body. The Performance have a detatchable bell. And the neck profile (other than the bore) is very different, very Selmer-like (if not a Selmer-copy). Keys are different, key cups are very different. Even the key touches are different.It's fun and easy to play and helps with learning fingerings, reading music, figuring out songs and tounging. If you ever try to play a real sax, your sound and embouchure is like 70% of playing and you won't be developing that on the 120. Even if you never intend to play a real sax, the 120 is fun to learn and play.The Selmer S80 C* bass mouthpiece is excellent. The OD of the Selmer bass neck that fits the Selmer Bass mouthpiece is 0.700". This is slightly larger in diameter than most of the vintage bass instruments that are more common. The smallest change in the bore/ inner diameter/ wall thickness of a bow or neck can make a HUGE difference in how a sax sounds. Play two saxophones (well set up) from the late 1930's and make some notes on what you felt behind the horn. Then rebuild both horns with fresh resonator pads, and make more notes.I bought a tenor Z and was able to hear it against a Keilwerth SX 90R and 1950's vintage Mark VI- all instruments, including the Z, were played by two pro musicians. The Z in my opinion blew the SX90R and the Mark VI away. The Z is on top for resonance and projection. From what I've read, shaving what are considered "bad reeds" can make them good. Without reed shaving a box of 10 reeds can easily yield only 2-3 readily playable reeds.
